How to use a nail-biting tracker without chasing a streak
Build a record of situations, responses and photos that remains useful even after a difficult day.

Start with the moment, not the total
When you notice the gesture, record what you were doing and how you felt. Reading, working or watching a film can create different contexts. The aim is to learn when the habit appears, not to judge every movement.
Choose a record you can maintain
A brief daily check-in is often easier to keep than a detailed log. Use the same categories so that entries are comparable. If you miss a day, resume the record; avoid filling missing information with guesses.
Use Desk Mode deliberately
NailSafe’s Desk Mode uses the front camera while your phone is positioned on the desk. A reminder near the mouth is a cue to notice your hands, not proof that you were biting. Lighting, framing and your position can affect detection.
Keep support in the picture
The app provides habit tracking and short SOS routines. It cannot diagnose a condition or guarantee that nail biting will stop. If you have an injury, signs of infection or significant distress, seek professional advice. Your record may help you explain what you have noticed.
A short entry you can adapt
An entry can be as simple as: afternoon; reading; tension; hands placed on the table after noticing the movement. This is a sample format, not a reported user outcome. Keep the categories consistent so recurring situations are easier to spot.
When reviewing, separate an observation from an assumption. A camera alert means a movement was detected, not that a biting episode was confirmed. Differences between photos may also come from lighting or framing. Seek professional advice about injuries, suspected infection or persistent difficulties.
