Prepare your phone for an offline emergency reference

Check what is actually stored on your device before you rely on an app without a connection.

Test access before an interruption

Open the app while you have time to learn its navigation. Then try the reference material in airplane mode. A downloaded app and a downloaded content library are not always the same thing; verify the parts you expect to use.

Keep essential information outside one device

A phone can run out of power or become damaged. Keep appropriate paper copies of key contacts and plans, and prepare physical supplies. Use local official preparedness guidance for the risks and needs of your household.

Know the limits of the tools

A compass, coordinates and signalling features depend on the device and its condition. Learn the controls in advance. A reference app is not a rescue dispatch service, a replacement for first aid training or a guarantee of communication.

Where Surv fits

Surv is designed to store reference guides and scenarios on the phone, alongside preparation and field tools. Some in-app content is only available in certain languages. Check the actual guide language and understand the information before relying on it.

A pre-departure access check

In airplane mode, try to find a particular guide, your equipment list and your family plan. Record separately what opens, what is missing and what you do not understand. Reconnect to complete missing items, then repeat exactly the same route offline.

Also ask someone in your household to locate essential information and its physical backup. This checks access and understanding of your organisation; it does not certify that supplies are sufficient or that the household is prepared for every risk.
