Organise an emergency kit inventory you can maintain
Make a practical record of what you own, where it is stored and what needs to be reviewed.

List what is actually there
Start with your existing supplies. Record the item, quantity and storage location. Separate confirmed stock from things you intend to buy so the inventory does not overstate your preparation.
Include dates and household needs
Record expiry or review dates where relevant. Consider the particular needs of your household when consulting official kit guidance. An inventory organises information; it does not decide medical requirements or establish that a quantity is sufficient.
Make the record usable by others
Use storage labels that other household members understand. Keep key contacts and meeting arrangements accessible. A detailed plan that only one person can find is harder to use during an interruption.
Review after changes
Update the record when something is used, replaced or moved. Surv’s preparation tools are designed to bring kit lists, inventory and family planning together. Keep a suitable backup outside the app and follow official guidance for your location.
